Grand Indonesia Hotel

Grand Indonesia is a mixed-use complex with a total measurement of about 640 000 m2, located beside the prominent Selamat Datang Monument, fronting the traffic circle, Bundaran HI, in Jakarta in Indonesia.

The site of the current Grand Indonesia was previously occupied by Hotel Indonesia and Hotel Inna Wisata. Hotel Indonesia was the first five star hotel in the archipelago, being the most prestigious hotel at the time. The development of the building was initiated by the first Indonesian president, Soekarno, who was also an architect. Hotel Inna Wisata was built in 1970s as a midclass accommodation, located behind Hotel Indonesia. All of the buildings in the complex will be torn down except the original building of Hotel Indonesia to make way for Grand Indonesia.

The complex

Grand Indonesia comprises Grand Indonesia Shopping Town, Hotel Indonesia - Kempinski, Kempinski Residences, and Menara BCA. The complex is built on the site of former Hotel Indonesia and Hotel Inna Wisata. The US$242 million project is funded by a major cigarette company, Djarum, under a 30-year BOT contract.

The operation and management of the mall is awarded to Jones Lang LaSalle while hotel and apartments is awarded to the Kempinski international hotel chain. BCA, the leading national bank, will occupy most of the office floors.

The whole complex is expected to be completed by early 2009 while Grand Indonesia Shopping Town is planned to be partially open in spring 2007.

Shopping Town

Slated to become the icon in the Indonesian retail scene, Grand Indonesia Shopping Town delivers the ultimate, trend-setting shopping, dining, and entertainment experience spread out over more than 250,000 m2 in eight levels. The shopping Town consists of 2 blocks linked by a multilevel bridge and zoned into 3 specialized districts to cater to individuals needs.

Kempinski Residences

A new Kempinski Residence was designed by RTKL architects and managed by the Kempinski group. This new building has 57 storey.

Menara BCA
Designed by world renowned architecture and design firm RTKL, Menara BCA will become Jakarta’s tallest premium-grade office building that incorporates the latest design and structural layouts with state-of-the art technology, all in elegant, business-friendly environment. Take one of the 22 high-speed passenger lifts to level 3 and walk through to the best mall, hotel, apartment, and entertainment centre. Go higher to level 11 and enjoy a refreshing workout or swim at Platinum Fitness First’s outdoor pool. When the sun sets, continue up to level 56 to enjoy cocktail at one of Jakarta’s best restaurants with spectacular views overlooking the city from the outdoor penthouse balcony. Hotel Indonesia – Kempinski

Hotel Indonesia, the first 5-star hotel in Indonesia, will be restored under the guidance of Kempinski and HBA / Hirsch Bedner Associates. With five restaurants and lounges, along with 280 suite style guest rooms, the Hotel Indonesia - Kempinski boasts such luxury for Indonesian's riches and expatriates. Two of the legendary rooms in the hotel, The Bali Room and The Ramayana Pavilion are also kept. The Bali Room, initially used as a meeting room and an auditorium, will be transformed into the new hotel ballroom. No design changes are made in The Ramayana Pavilion, particularly in the shape of its dome, although its function will be changed into executive lounge of Hotel Indonesia Kempinski. .

Location

Grand Indonesia which occupies 7 hectares of land is located strategically in the heart of Jakarta's business center and largest traffic circle. Directly across Grand Indonesia is Plaza Indonesia, the first upscale shopping centre in Indonesia and the five star Mandarin Oriental hotel. Nearby is the Japanese Nikko Hotel, the Japanese, British and German Embassies and Jakarta's latest entertainment centre, Plaza Indonesia and Entertainment X'nter.
Transportation

Fronting Grand Indonesia is the Busway lane 1 with a bus stop, Bundaran HI, directly connected to the complex. The closest planned monorail station to the centre is the Tanah Abang Station which is within five minutes on foot. While the closest planned MRT station to the centre is the Bundaran HI station.

Grand Indonesia Shopping Town

Grand Indonesia Shopping Town is one of the largest upscale shopping centre in Southeast Asia with over 250,000 m² of high end retail space. It is spread upon two main buildings, the West and East Mall, an is linked by a multi-level bridge. An eleven screens cineplex, Blitzmegaplex has opened in March 2007 while Seibu, a Japanese department store is opened in May 2007 on the West Mall. Grand Indonesia Shopping Town also hosts Harvey Nichols and Chanel boutique on the East Mall, both being their first flagship store in Indonesia.

The shopping centre is spread on eight levels and is divided into three main districts, the speciality, main mall and Crossroads of the World district.

Speciality District

Spanning the first 3 levels of the mall, this zone features posh, luxurious interiors with cozy lighting and refined details aimed at heightening the shopping experience for well-heeled shoppers visiting the high-end retail brands situated in these floors who appreciate the exclusivity and refinement in their daily routine.

Main Mall District

The next 3 levels of the mall will exude a vibrant and trendy ambiance. As the main thoroughfare of the mall, this zone will be bustling with shoppers looking out for the latest trends in casual and executive fashion, as well as health, beauty and general merchandise for the cosmopolitan shopper.

Crossroads of the World

It is the first in South East Asia and second in Asia after The Venetian Macau to introduce special lighting effects for a shopping center usually used in the filming industry. The lighting effects are designed by Gary Goddard Entertainment and is showcased in the Crossroads of the World district. The Crossroads of the World district is divided into the garden, market, fashion and entertainment subdistrict and adopts an outdoor interior design similar to those found in many Las Vegas shopping centres.
